$119,000 Grant from the Speer Dream Foundation for “Beaker” Robot

Beaker check presentation
Last week, Lisa Vickers, CEO of the Speer Dream Foundation, and Tim Whipple, Executive Director of the Speer Dream Foundation, visited St. Anthony’s Hospital to meet “Beaker the Lab Buddy” robot. Beaker was funded thanks to the generous $119,000 grant from the Speer Dream Foundation.

Since Beaker’s implementation last August, he has saved thousands of hours for St. Anthony’s Hospital’s nurses. Beaker delivers patients’ lab samples to the laboratory, saving the nursing team roughly 35 trips to the lab daily. The robot from Relay Robotics is designed to navigate hospital hallways on its own, effortlessly handling elevators and doors. Beaker’s efficiency allows nurses to remain at the bedside with their patients to provide the highest level of care.

Beaker has been featured in several news stories. To view additional news coverage, please visit the links below:
Note: The Fox News video incorrectly stated that the Foundation funded both Beaker and Hygeia. The Foundation has funded only Beaker and is currently seeking a funding source for the other robot, Hygeia. The written article has since been updated to reflect this correction.
