Unprecedented $5.2 Million Gift Propels St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation into a New Era of Healing

Richard Kurtz

St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation is honored to receive an unprecedented $5.2 million gift from the Richard I. Kurtz Trust. Mr. Kurtz, a generous local businessman with a heart for health care and military charities, passed away in 2024. In a remarkable gesture of faith, he granted his dear friends Debra and Nancy Harris the power of appointment to choose the 501(c)(3) charity to receive his residuary estate.

Debra and Nancy knew immediately and unequivocally their charity of choice: St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation. Debra, a former team member of St. Anthony’s Hospital, explains, “Richard knew how much St. Anthony’s provided an important sense of belonging and accomplishment for me but also how much it contributes to our community by providing excellent care. It is so much more than a workplace,” said Debra.

Mr. Kurtz’s transformative gift will fund essential medical equipment, seed patient programs, and provide team member scholarships, supporting St. Anthony’s Hospital’s provision of quality, compassionate care to this community for generations to come. We are deeply grateful for this generous act of faith that ensures the mission and future of St. Anthony’s Hospital.
