$100,000 Grant from the Speer Dream Foundation

Speer Foundation Zeiss Check

In December, Lisa Vickers, CEO of the Speer Dream Foundation, and her team visited the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation office to receive a six-month follow-up report on the state-of-the-art Zeiss microscope, which they funded through a generous $100,000 grant. This significant donation has greatly enhanced the hospital’s diagnostic and research capabilities, particularly within the Surgical Services Department. In the first five months of its implementation, 137 cases were performed with this microscope.

Lisa met with several representatives from the Surgical Services Department, including Kim Lemos, Director, and Dr. Adam Befeler, neurosurgeon. During the visit, staff had the opportunity to show Lisa, the Speer Dream Foundation team, and Kathy, Executive Director of the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation, the Zeiss microscope in person. Dr. Befeler stated, “[The Zeiss] lets us do what we do but BETTER…it sets us up, so we have all the future capacity.”

The Speer Dream Foundation was established by the family members of Roy Merrill Speer in 2016 as a Christian-based, closely held private foundation giving benevolently to many charitable causes and organizations that honor Jesus Christ and serve humanity. The Speer family is committed to making a meaningful, lasting contribution to the local community.

The partnership between St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation and the Speer Dream Foundation exemplifies how collaborative efforts can lead to significant advancements in healthcare. Both organizations look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of this investment in the coming years.
