At the 18th annual Women in Philanthropy Luncheon on March 5, hosted by St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation at the St. Petersburg Woman’s Club, remarkable generosity was on display. Thanks to three members who stepped forward with additional donations, the group’s total funding increased to $177,806. As a result, five new items were funded for the hospital, ranging from medical equipment to community programs.
The members votes allowed the purchase of the three items below:
Ultrasound P6: Upgrading to a newer model will significantly enhance imaging resolution and improve MRI fusion capabilities, enabling more precise targeting of prostate lesions. Additionally, the upgraded ultrasound system can be used for routine examinations within the Ultrasound Department and on patient care floors.
Steris DSD Edge Medivator: The STERIS DSD Edge Medivator is a high-performance sterilization system designed to efficiently sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment in 22 minutes. Its advanced technology ensures consistent sterilization cycles allowing for two scopes to be processed at once resulting in continued workflow. The system’s user-friendly interface and reliable performance support streamlined workflow in the sterile processing department.
GME IM Residency – Simulator Lab Equipment: This request is to purchase additional training equipment for our Internal Medicine residency program. These items have been selected to bolster the training of our residents and ensure the highest level of proficiency when providing direct patient care.
Additional dollars have allowed for the purchase of two more items below:
Franciscan Center to Support Team Member Mental Health: Team members will stay at the Franciscan Center and participate in Operation Restore, a specialized program designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of first responders. The 3-night, 4-day educational retreat helps participants manage stress, process traumatic experiences, and build long-term resilience. Participants engage in group processing, educational sessions, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a scientifically supported technique used to treat post-traumatic stress. Team members can participate in this program to address suicidal or trauma-related concerns.
Medication Co-Payment Assistance: The Medication Assistance Program is a need-based program that provides patients with medications prior to hospital discharge. The pharmacy can create an account to assist patients who are unable to afford the cost of their discharge medications. Grant funds will be allocated to this account and used upon review by the hospital’s Care Coordination Department. These grant funds will be available for both medical and behavioral health patients at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
